What is a linear actuator ?
Linear actuator is a mechanical device that converts the rotary motion of a power source into linear motion (or linear motion into rotary motion), which is commonly expressed in the form of a power source driving a transmission device, which extends or retracts the actuator body, thus changing the position of other equipment mounted on the telescopic body.
How does a linear actuator work ?
According to different working principles, micro linear actuator can be divided into several types. We will explain how different types of linear actuators work.
Electric linear actuator: it provides rotary power through electric motor (divided into DC electric actuator and AC electric actuator), which is then converted into linear motion by screw-nut, belt drive, or gearbox drive. The features are high accuracy, easy control, but has limited output torque and speed.
Typically used in areas where precision control, integration, and cleanliness are required, such as robotics, automation equipment, and food processing.
Hydraulic linear actuator: Hydraulic oil is compressed by an electric motor to generate pressure energy, which pushes moving parts such as piston, plunger or vane to convert hydraulic energy into mechanical energy and drive the load in linear motion. Hydraulic actuators are characterized by their ability to provide a constant large thrust, but the hydraulic fluid requires maintenance and the precision of the movement is not as good as that of an electric actuator.

Pneumatic linear actuator is characterized by clean energy, fast response speed, the disadvantage is that the load force is lighter, low control accuracy, poor speed stability.
